My name is Sara, I am from Colombia, I am 15 years old, and I have been in this country for almost 3 years. I was part of the magnificent program, Adelante Student Voices 2017. It is my privilege to talk about the feeling of being part of such an amazing program; which is not easy to tell with words because this program was the best thing I have ever experienced. The feeling that out in our small world, there are so many people who are willing to help teenagers, is splendid. To teach us so we can be aware of our future. Although, in this program you will not only learn about colleges and about your education, you will also learn the most important thing: "diversity". Meeting people from other places, who have different cultures, and even though some might have the same language as you, you will learn that it is still not the same. You will learn from their stories, from their past, and what they had to go through in order to reach their dreams. During the program I also learned how strangers have the power to listen to me, and be my friends, or part of me. With them I learned what I would like to do with my future, and who I will become. Now, I have a role model, which I met in this program. I learned from her that your path to become successful might not be easy, and you have to make some choices, but at the end you will see, that everything was worth it.
