Kenny Nienhusser

Kenny Nienhusser is an Associate Professor in and Program Coordinator of the Higher Education & Student Affairs Program in the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut. Kenny is also Faculty Director of La Comunidad Intelectual, a living-learning community with a mission to support students’ learning about their Latinx identity and/or the Latin American and Caribbean diasporas, support their academic and personal successes, and empower their engagement on our campus and in our communities. He is also Affiliate Faculty in El Instituto: Institute of Latina/o, Caribbean, and Latin American Studies. As a first-generation Latino college student who grew up in a working-class household of formerly undocumented immigrant parents, diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of his work as a researcher, teacher, advisor, and scholar-citizen. Kenny holds an EdD in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. He also holds an MSW and a BA in Economics, both from Stony Brook University.
